My 1995 Chevy Suburban K1500

95 Chevy SuburbanWith all the four wheeling trips that I had been taking and the beating that we were putting on our smaller vehicles by towing heavy trailers I decided it was time to pick up a tow vehicle.  All the Suburbans that were in my price range were at around 200,000 miles so when I came across this one with only leaking gas tank and fuel line and a little bit of rust underneath with only 83,000 miles I jumped on it.  It's got the 350 TBI V8 and 4WD.  I cleaned every bit of rust off of the underbody that I could and treated it with rust eating primer.  Then I used spray truck bed liner on all areas which were feasible and rubberized undercoating elsewhere.  I picked up a rear bumper from the junk yard and replaced the gas tank and rear section of fuel lines.  I also had to replace the muffler, which had a hole in it, so I installed a Cherry Bomb glass pack onto the 3 inch cat back exhaust.  Here's how it looked underneath once I was done:

And here's how it sounds:

I picked up a nice Yakima ski / snowboard roof rack so I can take a full condo worth of people with equipment in one vehicle.  It's also big enough to fit my whole family (8 people) for long trips or whole family activities.
