My 1992 Suzuki LT250R QuadRacer
I finally found a 91-92 LT for sale nearby so I snatched it up. This guy had only gotten as far as disassembly on the project and didn't have room to hold onto it. He was nice enough to put everything mostly back together so it would be easy to load onto the truck (I later found out that he couldn't get the swing arm bolt out of the frame / motor which I ended up having to use a sawzaw to remove haha.) This will be a full performance and cosmetic restoration.
I have chosen to undertake this project on the '91 due to a number of superiorities in the later model ('87-'92) vs. the earlier model ('85-'86). The swing arm is redesigned and stronger and the rear suspension functions better. The mounting locations for the front shocks are in a different location which allows for many more aftermarket options. I will be using the motor from the '87 because it is more powerful. All '87+ motors use a power valve and the '87 motor has a larger reed cage. Also, there is a larger aftermarket available in general.
Here is a basic overview of my plans for the project. These are just my preliminary off the top of my head ideas. There are still plenty of details that need to be worked out. Updates are at the bottom.
